The McGinnis Family

I drove to Kennesaw, Georgia on Sunday afternoon to photograph this sweet family! No, I usually don’t drive 300 miles on a Sunday to take family photos, but this crew holds a special place in my heart! I have been there with Mark and Amber since they were newly engaged, so I was excited to be able to take some updated family photos for Mark’s family!
ry=400I’m pretty sure they haven’t all been photographed together since I shot Mark and Amber’s wedding!  And just for kicks, here is one photo from the crew the last time I photographed them all together!  So you can compare where I began my journey with this family above, and where we are now!

I was incredibly impressed.  Five kids ranging from ages 7 to 1o months!  ZERO meltdowns!  It rarely happens with one child, much less five! Everyone was in a great mood, did exactly what I wanted them to do, and seemed to have a pretty good time doing it!

And yes, that was alot of driving just for one day, but I’d say it was worth it.  Something about getting a large family together makes me happy.  It makes me feel like I am doing something timeless for this family, kind of like I am a historian.  I’m hopefully taking pictures that generations will be able to enjoy down the road and know where they came from…know where it all began.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it also makes me wish I had a big family!  My family is pretty darn small, so hopefully I will end up marrying a boy one day with a big family!  Something about a huge family just seems fun.  I’m sure its chaotic most of the time, but I like it when I have a lot going on at once!  So until then, I will just insert myself into my friends’ families!
